Eloped

This... wow.  This was not expected.  Cecily eloped with Ernie.
That's where I've been all week.  She went missing on Monday, and we were going crazy trying to find her.  I was looking for her online through news sites and social networking, and Ivy went to her house to try to talk to her step-family.  That was a mistake.  Her step-mother nearly threw Ivory out the door, yelling that she was a bad influence on Ceci, and that she and Harry were the reason she'd left.  Of course we had no idea what that meant until Ceci showed up at our apartment with both Ernie and a wedding ring.
Cecily's step-mother never really approved of Ernie.  Says he's too geeky.  Personally I think she just enjoyed mooching off Cecily's success as a star fashion student.  I knew Ceci was getting frustrated with her step-family, but I never expected her to elope.
On the other hand, she seems happy, and her step-family has disowned her, which in this case is a good thing, because now she doesn't have to pay them half her salary anymore (I don't think her step-mother quite thought that one through).  It's just going to be hard to adjust to the idea that Cecily is married.

Girls' Night

I think Ivy and Ceci have been reading my blog.  Not that I ever doubted they did, but I think I accidentally guilt-tripped them.  This morning they told me we were going to have a girls' day.  Ceci was able to get out of working at her step-mom's shop, and she brought... everything.  Make-up kits, hair stuff, EVERYTHING!!!
It was actually a lot of fun.  I haven't done something like this in a long time, since before the gems.  I wasn't really expecting to have a good time, but I think I missed this.

A Walk

You know, there's something about being really bored that makes you do reckless things.  Like taking a walk when you know it's asking for trouble.
I mean, really, I should know better.  The Witch has been on the loose lately, and the Queen has been far too quiet for comfort.  Generally that means she's plotting something sinister.  If I had any sense, I would keep myself and my gems inside.
But of course, I have no sense, so I decided to take a walk instead.
It was actually pretty nice.  I didn't run into any crazies, and I just faked being mute if anyone noticed me (yes, Iris, I actually did use your idea, don't let it go to your head).  Maybe I've been overreacting as far as the danger of being outside goes.

Iris Found

Hey, sorry I haven't posted lately.  I was spending time looking for a missing super that apparently WASN'T missing.  Thanks for letting me know, Iris.  By the way, of COURSE I saw the news report, but then I never heard from you, and I was worried Evil Evil had actually come after you.
And besides that, there hasn't really been to blog about lately.  I mean, besides a missing blogger.  Ivy spends time with Harry, I work on my online classes... okay, I wasn't really working on classes.  I was trying to find where a certain super had ended up.

The Witch

Hey, after going over yesterday's post again, I figured I had better actually let you all know who The Witch actually is, for those of you who may never have come across her before (and believe me, you should count your lucky stars if you've never witnessed what she can do).
The first thing that you should know about The Witch is that she is insane.  Completely, utterly insane.  She never really has a motive for anything she does.  She just acts on random whims.  Sometimes it can be a good thing, and sometimes it can be really, really bad.  She has a wide range of magical abilities, and unfortunately, no one has found a limit to what she can do yet.  As far as we know, her only weakness is her highly changeable desires.
Her most notable case is actually the same one that introduced the world to Hansel and Gretal.  I may have mentioned in other posts, Gretal has the ability to temporarily paralyze someone else's powers (what I wouldn't give to talk to her!).  Apparently The Witch discovered this and kidnapped the pair (as they're brother and sister) to exploit Gretal.  She was trying to get Gretal to use her powers on Snow White, but she turned the tables instead and used her powers against The Witch.  The Witch is still obsessed with Gretal, but luckily Snow White took her and her brother under her wing and has been teaching them to control - and enhance - their powers.  Meanwhile The Witch magics her way out of prison all the time (again, no known limit to her magical abilities), and the citizens here stay on the look-out.

Surprise Skii Trip

Hey everyone, sorry about that ridiculous hiatus.  Ivy decided to take me on a crazy long skiing trip... without telling me.
Seriously, I can't figure out how she and Harry even find places to ski in the middle of summer, but apparently they exist.  I admit, I don't really get why they brought me, seeing as I hate skiing and all... Still, it was fun.  Cecily was there, and I got to meet one of Ivy's newer acquaintances, a librarian named Isabelle.  She actually moved here from Ireland a couple years ago, and she's got a fun accent.  Apparently she's where Ivy goes when she needs to stock up on her favorite Austen books.
In unrelated news, did you all hear about the Witch's attack?  I guess while Ivy and I were on our skiing trip, she ransacked a bunch of random houses in the city.  I would ask why, but then, it's the Witch.  She's completely insane, for those of you who don't know about her.  There's never much of a reason for why she does anything.  Luckily Hansel and Gretal were able to put her behind bars... again.  I do have to wonder where the rest of the team was, but then, they do work on their own occasionally.

Bored. Really, Really Bored

Why am I bored, you might ask?  Because Ivory is off with Harry, and Cecily is spending time with her boyfriend, Ernie.  Meaning I am at the house alone.
Oh dear, I just had a terrible thought.  What will happen to me when Ivy and Harry get married?  Ivy is going to leave, and I'll be here all alone, all the time.  I suppose I could get Ceci to move in, and it's not like rent would be a problem, but she and Ernie are getting pretty serious...
What's going to happen to me when all my friends are gone and I'm off on my own?

Someone New

All right, I promised you all an explanation of what happened when I went to the duck pond with Ivory, so here it is.
It started out really lame.  I couldn't talk in public, obviously, so Ivy and I couldn't really talk with each other.  I couldn't even coo at the ducklings.  I was really, really miffed.
And then someone new came up the path.
He was tall, kinda skinny, with wild blonde hair that stood up all over the place.  Apparently Ivy knew him, because she waved him over and introduced him as Jack.
Me, being the dummy I am, was about to introduce myself, and therefore reveal my secret, when Ivy interrupted me.  She said I was deaf and couldn't talk, and I blushed because it was such a lie, and I was so sure he'd see through it (it's not like I was acting like I couldn't hear), but he didn't call me out on it, so maybe I was doing better than I thought.  He was actually really nice, even if he didn't know I could understand him.  We parted ways, and for some reason, he lightened me up.  It still wasn't the same, but I was able to enjoy it a bit more.
That does make me wonder, though, why didn't he call me out?  I mean, now that I think about it, I was following his and Ivy's conversation perfectly.  He didn't catch that?

Happy Fourth!

Happy Fourth of July, folks!  I know you're probably wondering what happened at the duck pond yesterday, and while it was surprising, I'm not going to tell you just yet.  Instead I'm going to make you all get off your computers and spend time with family and friends, because that is what holidays are for.  So go on.  Shoo!
Seriously, don't tell me you're still reading this.

Venturing Out

Okay, so basically this week sucked.  But then again, my life basically sucks, so there's nothing new there.  Maybe if I become a hermit and keep all my bad luck to myself, the world will be happy again.
Unfortunately, Ivory won't let that happen.  She's insisting that I come to the duck pond with her today.  Says she's not going to let me make myself sick on chocolate cake again (just so you know, that doesn't happen every time I get upset, Ivy!).  She thinks the ducklings will cheer me up.  I hope she's right, but somehow I get the feeling returning to the place where my nightmare began isn't really the best idea.

I'm Ba-ack!

Thanks, Ivy, for posting my sickness all over the internet.  I really need to stop leaving this open when I don't write.
In any case, I wanted to set a couple things straight.  First, I do not habitually make myself sick on chocolate cake.  In fact, I actually try to avoid chocolate cake.  It is, however, my comfort food, and if I'm depressed, I'd like to see you try and keep me from it.  Second, while the Beast's imprisonment was certainly his most heinous crime, I've wanted Descartes in prison long before that came to light.  The man is a menace, this just solidified my repulsion for him.
Third, I have absolutely no doubt that one day, very soon, this maniac is going to go to prison, and I will be more content than I have been since I got my powers.
Oh, and fourth, I was not spewing gems.  I got one or two every time I moaned.  Big whoop.
Man, this is such a lame power!  Who wants gems every time they make a noise?  Seriously!

Sick

Hey guys, it's Ivory again.  Sorry about Ruby missing her posts, she ended up eating too much chocolate cake (it's her comfort food for really bad days), and she made herself sick.  It sounds even worse because every time she moans she spews gems all over the floor, and she just gets even more irritated.  At the moment she's trying to sleep it off, so I thought I'd explain a couple things.
I suppose you're all wondering why Ruby is so upset about the Beaufort ruling.  For one thing, putting pressure on Descartes, and hopefully putting him behind bars, means one more supervillain she doesn't have to worry about.  Ruby is also very stubborn, and she gets irritated when people (coughcoughthejury) act dumb.  But Ruby, as well as anyone who cares about the supers in this city, have another reason to want Descartes behind bars for good.
Ruby has mentioned Fair City's super group, Snow White and the Seven Supers.  One of the members of the team, the Beast... well, he has a bit of a history with Descartes.  According to Maribel Watson, a journalist who specializes in super stories, Snow White and Prince Charming, back before they led the team, found the Beast being held by Descartes and put on display in his underground auction-house as a side-show.  Ruby is a caring person, even if she tries to act tough.  She's never been able to believe Descartes got off easy (most people suspect a bribe), and she's wanted the lunatic behind bars ever since.  The supers in the city have been trying everything they can to keep him in prison, but unfortunately, there's a lot of money in animal smuggling.
Just thought I'd give you a bit of an explanation.

Ta-ta!
